First spec
It looks like the first spec list of the “small DSLR” coming from Canon is making its rounds. I can confirm that the next Rebel is said to have the exact same sensor as the current 650D and EOS M. The big feature difference would probably be the size and some of the interface functionality. Let’s hope it doesn’t share the same AF performance of the EOS M when in liveview mode.

We’ve received some interesting information about the development of the EOS 7D Mark II.
We’re told at least one variation of the camera being developed has an integrated grip, really making it a “Baby EOS-1D X”. We’re told that the larger battery seen in the EOS-1D X is part of the reason it will autofocus bigger lenses better than a camera with say an LP-E6. If this is going to be targeted at sports and wildlife photographers, the bigger battery makes a lot of sense. I would expect the camera to be somewhat smaller, as the mirrorbox and prism wouldn’t need to be as large. It’s sounding like Canon is really going to test how much people are willing to spend on an APS-C body.

Canon EOS-1D C Information. for your canon users some information I got about the Canon EOS-1D C. and hopefully you can remove little doubt about the latest canon camera.
1) A 25P firmware is coming next week.
2) Canon is aware that high iso, high motion doesn’t mix well with 4K aggressively compressed to MJPEG. So my little experience of doing 4K framegrab is mixed. Quality is amazing in natural daylight portrait, but is less interesting in action high iso scene. They are aware of that and the “limit is the card writting speed” at 100Mb/s.
Interestingly the buffer looks to be well over 380 Mb/s and almost 3Gb large. So basically, the camera could run small sequence with lower compression in 4K or even in 8K for 3 to 6 second on the buffer, and then move that to the card when done a little bit ala phantom.
They say they will “investigate in this direction”.
3) The twin Digic V in the 1Dc are slightly over clocked compared to the one in the 1Dx therefore this is why there is a need for better cooling.
4) The C500 with its slightly lower pixel density and higher pixel size, is for now the king of the hill when it comes to high iso and low light when filming in 4K.

Processing speed is 17 times faster than the Canon DIGI4 processor. With high ISO noise reduction set, the user can shoot at any setting with no loss of framing rate, and general improved image quality and functionality. "We had peripheral aberration correction before," noted Westfall.
